Virginia Stone

Stone, Virginia Jean 11/12/1925 - 2/26/2017 Virginia Jean (Johnson) Stone was born on November 12, 1925 in Jackson, Michigan, the daughter of Blanche (Guilfoil) and Lloyd E. Johnson. A long-time resident of Kalamazoo, she was a graduate of Kalamazoo College, from which she earned a B.A. in 1947. On April 10, 1948, she married Wayne R. Stone, who preceded her in death in August 2005. An active member of the First United Methodist Church of Kalamazoo, Mrs. Stone also served as Trustee and Annual Fund Co-Chairman of Kalamazoo College; as Board Member of the Child Guidance Clinic, Family and Children Services Agency, Ladies Library Association, and St. Agnes Board; and as President and Board Member of the YMCA, Kalamazoo College Women's Council, and United Methodist Women. The last few years of her life, she resided in Virginia to be close to her daughter. She is survived by her son David W. (Martha) Stone of The Woodlands, Texas, and daughter Patricia A. (Wade) Hulon of Mineral, Virginia. Also surviving her are granddaughter Charmian E. (Brian) Cuthbert; grandson Timothy W. (Lyndi) Stone; granddaughter Jessica C. Hulon; and granddaughter Sarah E. (Bryan) Day; great-grandson Loki J. Hulon; and great-granddaughter Paige E. Cuthbert. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 3, 2017, at 1:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church of Kalamazoo located at 212 So. Park Street. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be directed to the First United Methodist Church of Kalamazoo and Kalamazoo College.
