Van Fleet, Victor 11/22/1918 - 9/14/2016 Kalamazoo Victor Van Fleet, age 97, of Kalamazoo died peacefully at home on Wednesday with his wife Judy by his side. Victor was an avid bicyclist riding with the Kalamazoo Bike Club. He was a member of Centerpoint Church and the American Legion. He served in the Navy during WWII in Beaufort, NC working in a dental laboratory. After his discharge he owned his own dental lab in Holland, MI. He acquired his pilots license and flew his own airplane. He retired from the real estate business after many years. He enjoyed volunteering at Second Impressions for the Christian Schools and at the Kalamazoo Air Zoo. He is preceeded in death by his parents, brother Roger Van Fleet, Sr., sister Jean Huesby, son Bruce Van Fleet, nephew Roger Van Fleet, Jr., first wife Audry Wilkinson Van Fleet, and second wife Lois Chenery Van Fleet. He is survived by his wife Judith Betten Van Fleet, children Elaine Overacker (Norman), Sharon Taylor, and Kenneth Van Fleet. Stepchildren Pat Geerhart (Gary), Pamela Chenery, Joseph Betten (Mary), Kristen Mezsets (Eriks), George Betten (Lisa), and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016 at Centerpoint Church on N. 10th St. at 2 pm with a reception following. Visitation will take place one hour before the service.
