Vern Elwyn Cheever, age 81, of Racine, WI passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Wheaton Franciscan Hospital. He was born on September 3, 1934 in Jim Falls, WI, to Samuel and Delia (Nee: LaTourneau) Cheever. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Bernice, Mildred, and Eva; his brothers, Leonard and Cecil.

Vern was united in marriage to Dorothy Cullen on April 10, 1959 in Calgary, Alberta Canada.

Vern is survived by his wife, Dorothy and his children, Debbie (Dave) Franks of Rhinelander, Cheri (Bob) Griffin of Pleasant Prairie, Jan (Scott) Lannoye, Cathy Cheever, Donna Cheever, all of Racine, Carl (Margie) Cheever of Mt. Pleasant. Also surviving are his three brothers, Larry (Lois) Cheever, Warren (Jewel) Cheever, all of Florida, and Alvin Cheever of Racine; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

Vern served his country as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. He also worked at Young Radiator for twenty-five years and then Mamco until his retirement. He had a love for reading and studying the Bible, painting, and bird watching.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Private funeral services for immediate family will be held on Friday morning with burial following the service at West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family or to the Diabetes Association.

and all staff that so lovingly cared for our loved one in his final days.
