Tyler T. McCray, age 17, passed away peacefully in his mother’s arms on Wednesday, January 20, 2016. Tyler was born in Racine, April 10, 1998, son of Thomas E. and Antonette “Toni” (Nee: Vanella) McCray.

Tyler attended St. Lucy Grade School, John Paul II Academy, and was currently attending William Horlick High School. A lover of the theater, Tyler excelled in acting and singing. Tyler belonged to the Horlick Thespian Society, Horlick Chorale, Academic Achievement Society, and acted with the Guild of St. Michael’s at the Renaissance Fair. When he wasn’t at the theater, Tyler enjoyed going to Chipotle with his friends. Always with a heart of gold, Tyler will be dearly missed by all who had the honor of meeting him.

Survivors include his mother, Toni; his grandmother, Lorraine McCray; sisters and brother, Jessica, Thomas, and Kristina; aunts and uncles, Terri Vanella, Joette Vanella, Sandra (Chad) Johnson, Deborah (John) Wasikowski, Patrick John “PJ” (Cindy) McCray, Tim McCray; nieces and nephews, Theresa, Janessa, Jazmyne, Brianna, Riley, Carter and Levi; great niece, Amelia; and many other relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas McCray; his grandparents, Patrick W. McCray, Joseph and Harriette Vanella.

Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the funeral home from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and Friday at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue, from 10:00 A.M. until time of Mass at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Memorials to the William Horlick High School Theater Arts Department have been suggested.

Tyler’s family extends a special thank you to all the angels at Children’s Hospital for their loving and compassionate care.
