Tyler Barthel

Tyler Andreas Barthel, age 18, of Holland died suddenly Monday, March 14, 2016.

Tyler graduated from Zeeland East High School where he was involved on the robotics team and the varsity tennis team that went to state in 2014-2015. He was currently a sophomore in computer engineering at the University of Michigan. Tyler was a member of Beechwood Church where he volunteered for many activities. He was preceded in death by his grandfather William “Butch” Barthel.

He is survived by his parents Andreas and Cheryl Barthel and sisters: Nicole and Stephanie Barthel all of Holland; grandparents: Robert and Barbara Bredeweg of Holland and grandma Elke Barthel of South Haven; uncles and aunts: Todd Bredeweg and Deborah Rezanka of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Sabine and Brendan Callaghan of South Haven; cousins: Cameron and Patrick Callaghan and Alex Barthel all of South Haven.

Everyone was very proud of Tyler and he was loved dearly.

A funeral service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Beechwood Church, 895 Ottawa Beach Road in Holland. Reverend Jim Lankheet will be officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven.
