Thomas Rice

Rice, Thomas Galesburg, Michigan Thomas P. Rice, age 56 of Galesburg, died on March 28, 2022. He was born October 23, 1965, in Kalamazoo, the son of Dale and Mary (Brodie) Rice. Tom graduated from Galesburg-Augusta High School in 1984. On November 10, 1984, he married Lynette Gouin. They built a wonderful life on the Rice Family Farm in Galesburg. For over 42 years, Tom ran the dairy and crop farm and later worked alongside his son, who now runs the farm. Tom always had a passion for crops, animals, and the outdoors. He was a master collector of Hotwheels, Matchbox, and toy tractors. Always wanting to help others and from his own experiences, Tom was generous with his time counseling patients going on home dialysis and new nurses joining the dialysis clinic. His care team and fellow patients became a second family for him at the Fresenius Kidney Care in Battle Creek. Tom was a true friend who will be missed by many. His family includes his wife, Lynette Rice; his son, Randall Rice; his mother, Mary Rice; members of the Gouin family, cousins and extended family members, his dialysis family, and the farming community. He was preceded in death by his father, Dale Rice. Friends may visit with his family on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM at Langeland Family Funeral & Cremation Services, 205 E. Maple Street, Climax. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Oak Grove Cemetery, Galesburg, following Tom's last ride on the hay wagon.
