Thomas Olson

Passed away Sunday October 6, 2019 at Upjohn Nursing Home. Thomas was born June 4, 1951 in Kalamazoo the son of Irving and Elizabeth (Tait) Olson. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Army, member of St. Monica Catholic Church, and was a master gardener, enjoyed writing poetry, storytelling, and an avid fisherman. Surviving are son, Kelly (Dr. Hilary Statton) Olson; step-daughter, Andrea (Jens) Olson-Urbanek; three grandchildren, Kai Stratton-Olson, Cally Olson-Urbanek, Kari Urbanek; siblings, John Olson, Tina (Mike) Olson-Cooper, twin, Barbara Olson, Sandra Olson, Nancy Gordon, Susan (Mike) Kirvan, Edgar Olson, Mark (Shelly) Olson, Matt Olson, Robert Olson, Rebecca Olson, Patricia (Tom) Buckingham; former wife, Shari Olson; several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles and Phillip Olson. Friends will be received 1-3 pm Friday October 11, 2019 at Redmond Funeral Home, Kalamazoo, for a gathering and memorial service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kalamazoo Nature Center in lieu of flowers.
