Nance, Thomas Donald, Jr. Kalamazoo Passed away Thursday evening, October 13, 2016. Don was born April 17, 1931 in Battle Creek, MI the son of late Thomas F. Nance and Mable (Robison) Johnson. He was a decorated veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War, and was a member of the Brotherhood of the Chosen Few. He worked for over 35 years in the trucking industry. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Benjamin, and his special friend Buddy. On June 23, 1956 he was united in marriage for 59 years to his loving wife Shirley, who preceded him in death on June 22, 2015. He is survived by his children, Marcie Nance, Thomas Nance, Jr., Matthew Nance, Mark (Valerie) Nance, Chuck Carpenter; 9 grandchildren, Benjamin Brown, Joshua, Aaron, Cody, Andrew and Anna-Karin Nance, Matthew, Ben, and Stephen Carpenter; 1 great-grandchild, Lucas James Mortier-Nance; his "favorite" sister-in-law, Audrey Jenkins; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11:30am Tuesday, October 18 at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick with Majors Keith and Sherrie Welch officiating. Interment will follow in Ft. Custer National Cemetery with full military honors. Friends may meet the family Tuesday from 10:30-11:30 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army.
