Thomas Kakabeeke

Thomas M. Kakabeeke, age 73, of Kalamazoo, MI after living an abundant and blessed life, left this world on Sunday evening, September 18, 2016, to be forever with his Lord. He was a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo born on February 23, 1943, the son of Matt and Frances (Potgiesser) Kakabeeke. Tom was employed by The Upjohn Co. for 36 years until his retirement in 1997. He enjoyed above all, spending time with his family and friends. His early years with his Grandfather Kakabeeke, led to a lifetime interest in farming, tractors, logging and the outdoors. Tom was a member of Westwood Christian Reformed Church. On October 19, 1968, he was united in marriage to Frances A. Burke. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Frances Kakabeeke; their three sons with spouses and seven grandchildren: Michael (Joy) Kakabeeke and their daughter, Conley, Christopher (Kimberly) Kakabeeke and their children, Jack and Natalie, Daniel (Angela) Kakabeeke and their children, Claire, Hudson, Cooper and Tucker; two sisters, Donna (Richard) Nestell and Diane (Steve) Goodrich; brother, James (Jonell) Kakabeeke; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Westside Chapel, 3629 S. 9th Street and from 10-11 AM on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at Westwood Christian Reformed Church, 620 Northampton Road, with a funeral service to celebrate Tom's life beginning at 11:00 AM. Rev. Michael D. Koetje will officiate. Private interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Kalamazoo Christian School Association or Westwood CRC Memorial Fund.
