Thomas James, Jr.

Thomas W. James, Jr. of Kalamazoo, MI passed away Monday morning, January 29. 2018. Tom was born July 29, 1935 in Albany, NY the son of the late Thomas W. and Margaret (Kilfoyle) James. Tom worked as a chemist for Litton Guidance and Control, and also worked for several years with Ford Motor Company as a lab tech. Tom enjoyed reading, traveling, discussing politics, watching NASCAR and football, and ran 5 LA Marathons while living in California. His passion was being a mentor and sponsoring young men in their time of need. On November 5, 2005 he was united in marriage to his loving wife Marcia, who survives. Also surviving are his children, William James, Victoria (Larry) Andrews, Jeffery (Kathy) James, Barbara James, AJ (Lysanne) Harma, Matt (Brenda) Harma; 10 grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth (Richard) Kienbaum; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service to celebrate Tom's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, Feb 3rd at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Kalamazoo, 504 S. Westnedge. A time of fellowship will immediately follow the service. Private interment will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Alano Club or Trinity Lutheran Church of Kalamazoo.
