Thomas DeBoer

Thomas John DeBoer passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the age of 63. Tom was born on November 15, 1955 in Kalamazoo, MI the son of Andrew and Grace (Mulder) DeBoer. He was a lifelong area resident and member of Grace CRC. He enjoyed working with his hands, being on or near the water, playing with his grandkids, and coming up with well thought out plans. He started working at V&V Lumber in the 1980s, and he later became the owner. He was currently working at Woodwork Specialties. On September 7, 1979, he was united in marriage to Carole L. Koning, who survives. Also surviving are four children, Andrew DeBoer, Miranda (Buckley) Hamman, Jessica (Andrew) Smith, and Holly (Ryan) Minger; five grandchildren, Jameson and Carter Smith and Isabel, Zoey and Avery Minger; sisters, Sharon (Dave) Scheffers and Barbara (Scott) VanderMolen; mother-in-law, Lois Koning; brothers-in-law, Ron (Ruth) Koning, Bill Koning and Don (Pat) Koning; several nieces and nephews; and loved ones near and far including the Netherlands. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Diane Randall. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Wednesday, January 30th at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Thursday, January 31st at Grace Christian Reformed Church, 1724 Whites Road, with Pastor Greg Timmer officiating. Private graveside services will be held in Mount Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South. Memorials may be directed to Grace Christian Reformed Church or to Friendship Ministries.
