Theodore Yanski

Theodore Lawrence Yanski, 82, of Traverse City, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Munson Hospice House. He was born on April 3, 1931, in Hannah, the son of the late Theodore and Lorraine (Wurm) Yanski.

Ted was retired from Parson Corporation, where they made helicopter blades and the fuel tanks for the Apollo Mission. He then worked in construction and retired again from Timberlanes Bowling Alley as a maintenance technician.

Ted formerly attended St. Francis Catholic Church.

He enjoyed working, watching the birds at the feeders and loved working in his yard. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Ted is survived by his wife, Ann (Russell) Yanski; they were married on Dec. 22, 1951, in Traverse City; son, John (Lisa) Yanski, of Lake Ann; grandchildren, Jason, Stuart (Jennifer), Lauren (Sam) and Julian; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Dylan; siblings, Patrick (Nancy) Yanski, Dee Kruse, Geneva Yanski and Betty (Leonard) Popa, all of Traverse City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. A brief service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at Life Story Funeral Home, Traverse City. An informal gathering with friends will be held from 3 to 5 p.m.
