Terry Sander

Terry Faye Dick) Sander of Kalamazoo, MI went to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 78. She died Wednesday morning, June 14, 2017, after a long battle with cancer. Terry, was the daughter of William and Sarah (Dick) Knoll and was born in Grand Rapids, MI on March 31, 1939 and was a graduate of Kalamazoo Christian High School and Calvin College. She was an excellent homemaker and care giver for her developmentally disabled son from his birth. Terry did enjoy organic gardening and filling the freezer for the winter months with tons of veggies. Terry felt the call of being God's servant to be sure the birds of the air were provided with food every day of the year. Terry was united in marriage to James J. "Jim" Sander in Kalamazoo on December 11, 1959 and he sadly preceded her in death after 57 years of marriage on October 13, 2016. Surviving is her daughter, Nancy Sander of Kalamazoo; two sons, Ken Sander of Kalamazoo and Paul (Theresa) Sander of Hickory Corners, MI; three precious grandchildren, Adam, Garrett and Quentin; her sister, Sandra DeGroot of Dorr, MI; her brother, Dennis (Becky) Van Delfjisl of Kalamazoo and several nieces and nephews. Terry was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Bill Dick. The Graveside Service to celebrate Terry's life was held on Saturday, June 17th at 1 p.m at East Cooper Cemetery, Cooper Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Terry's honor may be directed to Kairos Dwelling, 2945 Gull Road, Kalamazoo, MI 49048. The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel assisted Terry's family with her arrangements.
