Terry Gentry

Terry Gentry age 78 of Holland died Saturday, October 24, 2015 at his home.

Born in Holland, Terry graduated from Holland High School and served in the U.S. army.

Terry was a past member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he was involved with the Sunday School and Boys Brigade. He attended Calvary Baptist Church and for many years was a school board member at Calvary Schools of Holland. Terry was also a member of Maranatha Bible Conference where he and his wife enjoyed their summers.

In 1969, Terry and Carolyn started a plumbing wholesale supply company in Holland. They started by making deliveries out of the backseat of their family car. Their business continued to grow and a Lansing and Kalamazoo branch were opened.

Terry’s love for horses led him to breed and show Quarter horses with his family for many years. More recently, he was owner and operator of TAG Racing Team.

Terry dealt with health issues early in his life including 6 broken legs with 12 surgeries, he was in a body cast for over one year, had a pulmonary embolism, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma cancer, a bone marrow transplant, knee surgery, Lithotripsy, 4 heart attacks leading to open heart surgery, prostate cancer, gallbladder surgery and lymphoma cancer. God blessed Terry and healed him during these times in his life.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Koster Gentry and children; Thomas Allen Gentry of Spring Lake, McKensie and Jace Nickleson, Marissa, Macie, and Maddison Gentry. Jeffrey Scott (Lori) Gentry of Holland, Erica, Trevor, Derek, and Ellery Gentry. Kelly Jo Gentry Webb of Holland, Taylor and Tarah Webb, and Alexa Webb. Patrick Derek (Robyn) Gentry of Holland, Holly and Patrick Jr. Gentry, and two great granddaughters, Luella Webb and Aila Nickleson. Sister, Nancy and Robert Post, Sister in-law, Patricia and Ron Conklin as well as several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Friday 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church, 517 West 32nd St. with Rev. Michael Grooms and Rev. Paul Davis officiating. Burial will be in Graafschap Cemetery.

Friends may call on the family Thursday 4-8 at the Mulder Chapel, Dykstra Funeral Homes, 188 West 32nd St.
