Susan Schau

Susan Jean Schau, age 67 of Gobles, MI passed away at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo on Monday, January 30, 2017. Sue was born October 2, 1949 in Saginaw, MI to John & Clementine (Brown) Marek. Sue graduated from Portage Central in 1967. She started working for the phone company at the age of 19 and retired from there in 2000. She was an active volunteer with the Telephone Pioneers. Sue was a generous, hard-working single mother raising two daughters. She loved sports, going to the casino, cooking, gardening, sewing and travelling. She went on many adventures with her friends and long-time love, Dennis Austin. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, John & Clementine Marek and her brother, Kenneth J. Marek. She is survived by her loving partner, Dennis Austin of Gobles, her daughters Kristi (Jeff) Johnson of Kalamazoo, and Jennifer Schau of Portage, granddaughter Lauren Johnson, sister Nancy (Keith) Elwood of Cape Coral, FL and brother Pat Marek of Vicksburg as well as several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in the spring. Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of S.W. Michigan and Rose Arbor.
