Moulton, Susan L. Kalamazoo Susan was a beloved daughter of Reverend A. Robert Harrison and Mary (Gillet Blair) Harrison. Born in Pinehurst, North Carolina, July 1944, Susan attended schools in Ludlow, VT, Oxford, MI, and graduated from Saginaw High (MI) in 1962 and U of M in 1966 with a BA in Education. For 30 years she loved teaching the young students at Parchment Public Schools, compiled a dictionary for them, specialized in teaching Reading Recovery and taught art classes before retiring. From 1974-2008 Susan was married to Bernard Moulton of Kalamazoo, where Bernie worked with Snelling and Snelling, and later owned and operated Applied Tank Technology. Carol (Schmidt) Powers, Georgia, was Sue's maid-of-honor and constant friend for the past 62 years. Bernie and Susie traveled out west to see his sisters, many times to Georgia also to help Bill and Carol Powers move there, and to Alabama with Tony and James Adams. Her book club, co-teachers, family and friends loved meeting at Bernie and Susie's Lake Michigan Montague condo. Throughout Susie's life, she took art classes, loved her painting club at Soni Keller's, read profusely, did puzzles, and worked with jewelry. Some good classmates (6-8th grade) from Oxford took Susie with them to France when she became widowed and invited her to several get-togethers, adding to her happiness. Enjoying Florida winters and Michigan summers together, Susie had Ron Foster and his family to thank for life-saving care. Susan was stepmother to Todd Moulton and Shelley (Moulton) Knott (deceased), and step-grandmother to John Edwards. Surviving are her brother, Philip Harrison, sister, Mary (Harrison) Bell, and Rodger Bell, brother-in-law. Preceding Susan in death were her parents, two brothers, Herbert Harrison (d 1993) and Julian Harrison (d 2020) and a sister-in-law, Barbara Harrison (d 2020). Her two surviving nephews are Mark Harrison (Patty) of Texas and R. Aaron Bell (Amy) of Michigan. Her two surviving nieces are Sue Case (James) of Michigan and Krista Bell. Other people the family thanks are her old neighbors, Randy and Christian Drenth, her new friends at the Fountains, especially Marsha, and close friends, Barbara (Zola) Brewer (Bill), TX, Jenny Goodnow (Jack), CO and Diann Roshen. Due to gathering limitations a private memorial service will be held. The family invites you to join a livestream funeral service on Zoom; please find the service information and livestream link at www.langelands.com. Interment will take place at Brookside Cemetery in Charlevoix. Thanks to Ascension Borgess Hospital, doctors, Endocrine Center and the American Diabetes Association, Susan, a brittle diabetic, survived over 50 years.
