Susan (Chalekian) Esayian of Racine (Wind Point), WI went to meet the Lord on March 16th, 2017. She was born in Racine, WI on October 22, 1932 to parents George (Krikor) Chalekian and Corrine (Kohar) Chalekian. She resided in Racine all of her life but spent sixteen winters and had a residence in San Diego, CA. She was married to John Esayian on June 19, 1954 in South Milwaukee. Susan graduated from Horlick High School in 1951 and also attended Garfield School and Washington Jr. High.

Susan owned and operated two successful businesses; Dairy Queen (10 years) on Douglas Avenue and Sue’s Hallmark Card and Gift Shop in South Milwaukee (10 years). She volunteered her time at All Saints Hospital and at St. Mesrob Church as: Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Treasurer, Women’s Guild Member, Women’s Guild Chairman, Building Commission Secretary, and managed Alter Flowers. She was a major contributor to an Armenian cookbook, enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family, adventures with her husband of 61 years, and eating Mexican Food.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Uncle Charles Chalekian, brothers Naz (2010) and Suran Chalekian (2016), brother-in-law, George Schwabe (2015) and her beloved husband John Esayian (2015).

She is survived by her son, Nicholas Esayian; grandsons, Jake and Troy Esayian; brother, Adam Chalekian and his wife Lauren Chalekian; sister-in-law, Elinore Chalekian; brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Shari Esayian; sister-in-law, Mimi Schwabe; nieces, Christa Chalekian, Holly Warburton, Georgeanne Schwabe; nephews, George Chalekian, Aaron Chalekian, and Jay Schwabe.

By 18 Sue's parents had both passed on, she and her three brothers between ages nine and 19, were joined by her husband John Esayian to embark on a life of challenge and adventure. Three Chalekian men were in or on their way to the U.S Army and one Esayian in the United States Marines (retired). She was a woman that worked hard taking responsibility in all aspects of her life. She nurtured, was a devoted and loving sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, and mother-in- law and took great pride in her family and their accomplishments.

Susan founded and owned multiple businesses. She was a proud Armenian/Christian and a member of St. Mesrob Church. She was a patriot, generous, kind and sometimes a little “spicy” when she didn’t like something. Susan embraced many people in their time of need and had her own way of doing things which complimented her husband. She was a wife of 61 years when her beloved husband, John Esayian, passed. Some people choose to embark on adventures and challenges while others have adventures and challenges thrust upon them and operate in the background. Susan was the one behind the scenes and took on each life mission with nary a complaint other than living without her husband John. No one of us is perfect in how we handle the adventures we choose or those thrust upon us but we can take pride in always giving our best in actions and intent. Susan was that person.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 22, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church, 4605 Erie Street, with Rev. Avedis Kalayjian officiating. Entombment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Wednesday at the church from 9:30 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. Donations may be made to St. Mesrob Sunday School.

God bless her, keep her, and protect her family.
