Susan Bell

Susan E. Bell, age 72, of South Lyon, MI passed away September 27, 2017. She was born in Kalamazoo to Hollis and Agnes Dodge. Susan graduated from Galesburg Augusta High School, Michigan State University and worked in elementary education as a teacher. She taught for many years with Academy of the Sacred Heart and Detroit Country Day being two of the local schools. She has been a member of North Congregational Church of Farmington Hills for 20 years. Susan was an elected member of the Lyon Township Library Board and was an avid reader. She also loved to travel, kayak and golf. Susan was a avid Blue Birder and helped maintain numerous Blue Bird trails. She is survived by her husband John for 54 years; children: Denise (David) Herbert, Carol (Robert) Randall and JoAnne (Timothy) Adams; grandchildren: Gregory Herbert, Douglas Herbert, Kenneth Randall, John Randall and Charlotte Adams; brothers Glen Dodge of Augusta, MI and Gregory Hollis Dodge of Staunton, VA. She is preceded in death by her parents and grandson Casey West Adams. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2017 from 4:00-7:00pm at Phillips Funeral Home, 122 W. Lake St. South Lyon. A graveside service will take place on Monday, 11:00am at Battle Creek Memorial Park, 2435 W. Territorial Rd. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2017, 1:30pm at the North Congregational Church, 36520 W. 12 Mile Rd. Farmington Hills.
