Stephen Kremers

Steve Kremers, age 64, of Virginia Beach, VA passed away January 24, 2017. Raised and educated in Kalamazoo, Steve lived in Virginia Beach since graduating from college in 1975. He was an inspirational teacher and mentor for 40 years; his career included teaching earth science and oceanography at high schools on the coast of the Chesapeake Bay. He was the son of the late Peter and Jane Kremers. Steve will be missed forever by his loving wife, Debbie, and his beloved children, Jaye Carroll (Tim) and Ross Kremers (Lisa) and granddaughter, Evelyn Carroll. Steve is also survived by his brother Walter Kremers (Hilal) and sister Barbara Gallagher (Tom), special sister-in-law Tina Troha, and sibling-in-laws, Cindy Domaska, Darreen Hudson, Lori Domaska, Mike Domaska (Sue) and his nieces and nephews, Ece, Mete, Kelly, Kaylin, Jamie, Michael, Ashley, Amber, Jon and Alan. Steve encouraged respect and love for our environment and his commitment to his students and our earth will continue through the Stephen J. Kremers Memorial Scholarship. The family thanks the many friends, neighbors and colleagues who loved and cared for us during Steve's illness. A memorial service was held at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Virginia Beach in February. Another memorial will be held the afternoon of July 8, 2017 at Little Point Sable Church, Shelby Michigan, near Steve's beloved summer home and the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan.
