Stanley W. Chase, age 90, of Allegan, MI passed away on Sunday evening, July 10, 2016 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence in Kalamazoo. He was born on December 26, 1925, the son of the late E. Donald and Orena (Matzinger) Chase. Stan was a veteran of the Army Air Corp. serving during World War II. On July 24, 1954, he was united in marriage to Eleanor J. Bird. Stan was employed by Eaton Corp. for 31 years until his retirement. He and Eleanor were House Parents for the WMU sorority Alpha Chi Omega for 9 years. After retirement, they wintered in Clearwater, Florida and summered in Sandy Pines Resort, Allegan. Stan enjoyed painting, photography, golf, baseball, and nature, but his family was most important to him. Surviving are his wife of 62 years: Eleanor Chase; five children, Stanley II (Lawrie) Chase, Paula Chase; Ruth Ann (David) Downs, Michael Myhre, and James (SuChong) Myhre; thirteen grandchildren, Joshua Chase, Adam Chase, Jennifer (Jesse) Churilla, Stanley III (Sarah East) Chase, Holly (Chris) Baker, Christina (Johnny) Manning, Chad (Marisa) Downs, Chelsie (Chris) Hubbarth, Robert Myhre, Jason Myhre, Andrew Myhre, Jimmy Myhre Jr and Liana (John) Walsh; fourteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were two brothers, Jack and Don Chase; and two sisters: Orena "Rena" Westerville and Beverly Dinger. Friends may visit with Stan's family from 5-8 PM on Friday, July 15, at Langleland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street. A service to celebrate Stan's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 16, at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, July 18, at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Rose Arbor Hospice Residence or a charity of one's choice.
