Sister Kathleen Reichert, O.P., 72, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center, Racine, WI on Sunday April 19, 2015.

Kathleen Ann was born March 2, 1943 to William J. and Grace M. (nee: Verber) Reichert in Racine, WI. On September 8, 1962 she joined the Racine Dominicans and at her reception in 1963 she was given the religious name Sister Eva Marie. She professed her first vows in 1965 and her final vows in 1973. In 1968 she returned to using her baptismal name, Kathleen (Kathy).

Sister Kathy spent many years in service to others in teaching. She began her ministry in 1966 at St. Edward, Racine. After teaching at Nativity High School in Detroit, MI she moved back to Racine in 1970 and taught French and English at St. Catherine’s High School until 2008. After her teaching career she enjoyed managing the Siena Center Card shop.

Sister Kathy is survived by the Racine Dominican Sisters and Associates; her sisters Carol (Joseph) Svatora, Kristine (Cesar) Salgado and Mary Jo (Joseph) Filbrandt; nieces and nephews; and other relatives including her cousin Sister Jean Verber, O.P. She was predeceased by her parents.

Visitation will be in the Siena Center Chapel on Saturday April 25, 2015, beginning at 10:30 am with a Remembering Service at 12:45 pm followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 pm. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery Hwy 32. Memorials to the Racine Dominican Mission Fund have been suggested.

The Racine Dominicans would like to extend their thanks to the Supportive Living staff who cared for Sister Kathy at Siena Center and the physicians and nursing staff in the Emergency Room and ICU at All Saints for their compassionate care given to Sister Kathy.
