Shirley Ann Wheeler-Hacker, age 76, of Plainwell, MI passed away Wednesday, January 25th. She was born and raised in Kalamazoo, MI. Shirley was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved music, fishing, gardening and her family. She loved time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. Mom provided a lot of love and happiness in our lives. Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes. The biggest lesson we walked away with was freedom, she always allowed us to find our way. We skinned our hearts and skinned our knees, and now it is hard to say good-bye. We will always remember your love and the mother you were. We love you, Mom! She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Martha Wheeler; grandson, James Scott Haveman; and her two sisters, Beverly Hacker and Myrna Thornton. Surviving are her son, Steven (Christy) Caley; and daughter, Marty (Larry) Haveman; and 26 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family will have graveside services at Maple Grove Cemetery on Friday, February 3rd, at 1 PM. There will be a luncheon afterwards.
