Shirley M. Dew, age 80, passed away Monday, March 14, 2016 at Wheaton Franciscan- All Saints Medical Center. Shirley was born in Appleton, WI, September 18, 1935, daughter of the late Rueben and Angeline (Nee: Fisher) LaPlant.

Moving to Racine from Green Bay in 1960, Shirley was employed for many years at In-Sink-Erator, retiring in 1991. Shirley was a longtime and active member of St. Edward Catholic Church where she took great pride cleaning the church and caring for their gardens. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Harmony Club.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Cheryl (Dr. Harold) Garner of Coleman, Kath (Jim) Syring of Racine; her grandchildren, Angeline (Wade) Kizewski of Milwaukee, Scot (Rachel) Skarda of Oconto Falls, Hayley M. Syring of Racine, Melissa (Velmer) VanDerWel, Scott Garner; her six great-grandchildren, Riley, Trent, Rex, Noah, Chloe, and Parker; sister, Theresa VanDeraa of Appleton; sister-in-law, Dorothy “Dot” Mitchell of Kaukauna; nieces, nephews; best friends, Betty Beadles, Carla Greening; numerous friends including the St. Edward Parish Family; wonderful neighbors, Lee Panyk, Sara, Dino, and Sophia. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her three brothers, Harold, Gerald “Ikey” and Robert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 19, 2016, 1:00 P.M. at St. Edward Catholic Church, 1401 Grove Avenue, with Rev. Allen Bratkowski and Rev. Richard Molter concelebrating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the church from 11:00 A.M. until time of Mass at 1:00 P.M. Private interment will be held.

A special thank you to Dr. Ryan Engel, Dr. Hai Dang Hoang, nurses and staff in oncology, for their loving and compassionate care.
