Shirley Ann Fernandez, 80 of Traverse City died, Tuesday, September 15, 2015.
She was born on September 18, 1934 in Covington, Kentucky the daughter of Joseph and Margaret Elizabeth (Bridewell) Ostermeyer.
Shirley's mother died when she was 15 years old. She helping to raise her brothers and sisters she worked at Awrey Bakeries in Birmingham, Michigan. She married, Hubert Hughey and they raised four children before the marriage dissolved. She also was the former owner of Town and Country Diner in Bellarie. Shirley retired from Munson Medical Center as a switchboard operator with over 15 years of service.
Shirley married Delfin Fernandez and he died in 2009.
Shirley love being a mom and grandmother. She enjoyed crafts, ceramics, interior design, country music and traveling.
Shirley is survived by her children, Debra (Ronald) Murden and Kim (Larry) Roszczewski both of Traverse City, Michele (Jim) MacQuarrie of Mancelona and Gail Hughey of Lansing; grandchildren, Todd, Mark, Abbey, Nathan, Jessica, Joshua, Sarah, Angie and Tyrel; great-grandchildren, Caden, Aubrey, Kai, Rowan, Mason and Wesley and sister, Beverly (Earle) Petty of Florida.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Delfin, great-grandson, Payton and siblings, Don and Chuck Ostermeyer and Janet Reisenbeck.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Grand Traverse Pavilions or Trinity Lutheran Church. Funeral Services will be held 11 am, Friday, September 18, 2015 at the Life Story Funeral Home, Traverse City. The family will greet friends starting at 10am. Burial will be in the Southern Cemetery, Central Lake with her husband, Delfin Fernandez.
