Shirley Barnett

Shirley Ann Barnett, age 89 of Bloomingdale, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Briarwood in Allegan. Shirley was born July 14, 1935 in Flint, daughter of the late George and Nina Black and had lived the past 50 years in the Bloomingdale area. Shirley loved to camp and travel across Michigan's Upper Peninsula. She also enjoyed spending time quilting and in her garden. Surviving are her children, Cheryl (Don Boven) Prather, Kathi (Carl) Peterson; grandchildren, Soren and Victor Peterson, Daphne Baker, Kyle and Katie Zehner, Nicole Gardner, along with her best friend and loyal furry companion, Lacey. She was preceded in death by her husband, James in 2013; her sons, Douglas and Gregory Zehner and grandsons, Cody and Chad Zehner. Following her wishes cremation has taken place. A graveside service will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery on Monday, July 14th at noon. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Al-Van Humane Society.
