Life Story / Obituary
Shirley Ann Davis, age 69, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2016. Shirley was born in Stevens Point, WI, September 26, 1946, daughter of the late James and Maxine (Nee: Tubbs) Russell.
On June 25, 1966 she was united in marriage to John W. Davis who preceded her in death on January 21, 2015. She was employed by Twin Disc for many years until her retirement in 2009, and considered herself lucky and proud to be one of the first women hired in the shop. An avid Packer fan, Shirley also enjoyed reading and fishing. More than anything she cherished time with her family and will be fondly remembered for the tremendous pride exhibited with gardening, canning, and baking.
She will be dearly missed by her children, Michelle Davis (Brian) Sobocinski, John (Maria) Davis; her grandchildren, Ronan Sobocinski, Kelly Davis and Brock Davis; sisters and brothers, Jean Gustin, Marge Russell, Maureen “Gret” Polly, Bill (Chris) Russell, Gary (Linda) Russell, Maxine (Dale) Bates, Pat Russell (Mark Buetler), brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Wes VanMarter, Tom (Marilyn) Davis, Barbara Valley, Sandy (Jim) Moore; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sister, Kathy VanMarter; brother, Thomas Russell; and brother-in-law, Jim Gustin.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2016, 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Wednesday at the funeral home from 9:30 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. Private interment will be held. Memorials to Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin have been suggested.
