Sharon Town

Passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at the age of 78. She was born February 25, 1938 in Kalamazoo to the late Everett and Kathleen (Daly) Thornton. She was united in marriage to Craig Town on September 22, 1979 for a loving 36 years together. Sharon loved people. She greeted everyone she saw with her beautiful smile and a cheerful hello whether she was at one of her favorite places like St. Joseph Church or Poor Richard's restaurant or anywhere she was. Sharon was a huge fan of the Detroit Tigers just like her mother before her. It never mattered to her if they were winning or losing, she was happy to cheer them on regardless of their record. Sharon was also a big supporter of our local baseball team the Kalamazoo Kings while they were here. She was very visible in the stands supporting them at every home game. Sharon is survived by her husband, Craig Town; nieces, Teri (Ron) Spruill, Leeann (Dwight) Spiegelberg, Kathy (David) Thornton/Blank, Lisa Thornton, Deb (Ron) Kirshman, Jackie Thornton; nephews, Kevin Thornton, Tim Thornton, Dan Thornton; The family will greet friends on Wednesday, May 4th from 9:30 11 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 936 Lake St., Kalamazoo. The service will be held immediately after the visitation. Lunch will be provided after the service. Msgr Michael Hazard will officiate services. A private interment will take place at a later date.
