Keegan, Sharon Mattawan Went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 after a hard-fought battle with a massive stroke and several health problems. Sharon was born to the late Clyde and Ada Kirk on November 10, 1949, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Sharon graduated in 1967 from Kalamazoo Central High School. She married her best friend, Phillip, on September 5, 1970, who she enjoyed her life with. Early in Sharon's life, she worked at the post office to pay her way through Parsons Business School. After she graduated, Sharon went to work with Clausing Corp as a secretary. She then went on to be the food manager at Mattawan Middle School kitchen. Sharon was also involved with the Migrant Program in Lawrence, MI. Of all her life accomplishments, by far her favorite was taking care of and raising her family. She was an amazing cook and loved sharing it with family and friends. Her home was always filled with good food and music. She especially loved the music of Elvis Presley and Patsy Cline. Sharon also loved traveling with her family especially her husband Phil throughout her life. Her favorite trips being California and Hawaii. She loved to joke that her family were the Griswolds because a crazy hilarious mishap would always happen while on vacation. Everyone she met knew her kindness, compassion and sense of humor. She was the light in the room. Surviving Sharon is her husband, Phillip; daughters, Heather (Charles) Abnet, Christie (Charles) White; grandchildren, Taylor Keegan, Kaylei Mead, Keegan White, Kameron White, Charlotte White, Thomas White; siblings, Nancy (Forrest) Garrison, Robert Kirk, and Katie Thomasma. She is preceded in passing by her parents; siblings, Carol Breese, Pauline Willard, Elaine McDonald, Clyde Kirk; brother-in-law, John Thomasma, and sister-in-law, Sandy Kirk. A rosary service and visitation will be held in her honor on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49009 with the rosary beginning at 5pm and visitation from 6pm to 8pm. A funeral service will be held the following day, May 5, 2022 at St. John Bosco Catholic Church, 23830 Front Street, Mattawan, Michigan 49071, at 11am with a luncheon immediately after. Burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery on May 6, 2022 at 11am. Please direct any memorial contributions to the Covenant House in Grand Rapids, MI.
