Sara Rogene Grosshans Antoniotti Howe died peacefully Sunday morning, March 1, 2015. She was a spark of a woman with a generous heart and immeasurable sense of humor who taught us all to laugh at ourselves. She spent her last days at New Friends memory care in Kalamazoo, MI where she was welcomed with open arms, sincere care and love by both staff and neighbors. Rogene was born Sara Rogene Grosshans on August 9, 1928 to Leo and Marian Grosshans in Sutton, NE. She grew up in Hastings, NE and Davenport, IA. She married Albert Antoniotti (1923 to 1979) in 1946. The Antoniotti's raised their family first in Davenport, IA, then in Ashland, KY and finally moved to Kalamazoo, MI in 1964. She married Edgar Howe in 1986. She is preceded in death by her father and mother; both husbands; and brother, Richard William Grosshans. Rogene is survived by a sister, Rosemary Graham of Davenport, IA; three children and two daughters-in-law: Steven and Alice Antoniotti of Farmington Hills, MI, David and Virginia Antoniotti of Portage, MI and Gina Antoniotti of Kalamazoo, MI; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial will be scheduled later this spring to enable her entire family to share in the celebration of her life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan. Please visit Rogene’s personal web page at www.lifestorynet.com, where you can archive a favorite memory or photo of her and sign her online guestbook.
