Sandy McDuff Gavaldon, 66, of Traverse City, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015.

Sandy attended Traverse City Schools and Traverse City Senior High School.

She was married to her childhood sweetheart, John Gavaldon, Feb. 4, 2002; he survives. Also surviving are her daughters, Amy Rountree and Sara (Charles) Schwarz; her grandchildren, Charlie and Cristabel Schwarz and Haley and Ashley Stevens; siblings, Paul (Deb) McDuff of Medford, Oregon, Dean (Lonnee) McDuff, of Mt. Pleasant, Cathy and her dog, Char McDuff, of Alma, Timothy McDuff, of Ann Arbor, and Patrick and (Chris) McDuff, of Manistee; and many nieces and nephews.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Alice McDuff; her brothers, Michael McDuff and Dan McDuff; and a sister, Carol (McDuff) Worde.

Sandy had been employed by several area lawyers and by Munson Medical Center in the emergency department.

Her greatest passions were her wonderful flower gardens, lush lawns, antique and estate sales and reselling of her possessions. Her dogs over her lifetime had been a great sense of happiness and joy to her. Sandy’s eye was really for decorating and arranging her home with perfectionism. She was truly in her glory being a homemaker and always stuck close to home. Also among the loves of her life were her daughters and grandchildren.

Sandy’s smile, touch and presence will be missed by her family and friends.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Cherryland Humane Society.
