Sandra Duryea

Duryea , Sandra J. 3/4/1938 - 3/3/2017 Kalamazoo Age 78, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017. Sandra was born in Detroit, MI, on March 4, 1938, the daughter of the late Dr. Roy and Barbara McNeil. She was also preceded in passing by a son, Bob Duryea and a grandson, Jason Duryea. She grew up in Southwest Michigan and made Kalamazoo her home. Sandra had a great personality and loved life. She made friends wherever she went and was always supportive of those in need. Above all she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Birthdays and holidays were important to Sandra and she was always ready to celebrate. She loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. She was always in attendance at their sporting events. She also enjoyed traveling, visiting with friends and square dancing. Sandra was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be missed by all who knew her. On May 26, 1961 she married the love of her life Richard Duryea who survives. She is also survived by three children, Jeff Duryea, Becky (Kevin) VanDyke, Kim (Brian) LePert; seven grandchildren, Kristi, Jason, Derek, Alicia, Dillon, Jesse, Corey; eight great-grandchildren and many wonderful friends and family. A memorial celebration will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, beginning at 12:00 PM, at Spring Valley Church, 5240 Mt. Olivet Rd., Kalamazoo, MI 49004, with Pastor Kyle Wartella officiating. A visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice , c/o the funeral home.
