Sally Jo Bennett

Age 76, exchanged her earthly body for her heavenly home on November 30, 2019. Sally was born in Kalamazoo on July 9, 1943, to the late Marcus and Anna (Reer) Lage. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1961 and worked in various dental offices throughout her life, the most recent being for Dr. Phillip T. Doyle, DDS, for the last 22 years. Sally is survived by her son, Denny Bennett of Mattawan; daughter, Debbie (Michael) Netzlof of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Jami (Justin) Demharter and James (Monica) Aretz; and sister, Sandra Den Hartigh. Her heritage on this earth will continue with her great-grandchildren, Cameron, Hunter, Paislee, Avery Jo, Zoey Anne and Ava. Sally had a great love for animals, especially horses, and is also survived by her beloved dog, Mac and cat, Imus. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother in-law, Paul Den Hartigh. Sally was a model of grace, fortitude, hard work, dignity and mercy to all who crossed her path. In accordance with her wish, cremation has taken place and her cremated remains will be laid to rest at Churchill Downs. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
