Ruth (VandePolder-Weenink) Dykstra

Dykstra, Ruth (VanDePolder-Weenink) of Kalamazoo Ruth passed away Friday evening, March 16, 2018 at Oak View Terrace in Kalamazoo. She was born on July 1, 1922 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of the late Harry and Fannie (Meyer) VanDePolder. Ruth was employed by W.T. Grant Co. and Treva Reed Music. She was the church organist for First Reformed Church of Kalamazoo for 12 years and First United Methodist Church of Kalamazoo for 33 years. Ruth was also a member the Kalamazoo Oratorio Society. On September 4, 1959, she was married to Henry J. Weenink, who preceded her in death on September 8, 1979. On August 20, 1991, she was married to Alle Dykstra, who preceded her in death on September 27, 1998. Also preceding her in death were four brothers: Robert, Henry, Harold and George VanDePolder; and sister: Elsie VanDePolder. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended relatives from the VanDePolder family and many relatives from the Weenink and Dykstra families. A service to celebrate Ruth's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 20, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3629 S. 9th Street.
