Ruth Cutler

Cutler, Ruth Elizabeth 5/9/1921 - 12/8/2016 Portage Passed away December 8, 2016 at Bickford Cottage in Portage, MI. Ruth was born May 9, 1921 in Batavia Township, Branch County, MI. She was the daughter of Alex and Kate (Nelson) McCrary. Ruth worked for many years as a receptionist in physicians' offices and retired as a pharmacy clerk from Upjohn Company in 1990. She married Leon P. "Dutch" Cutler, September 1, 1951 and enjoyed 59 years of a happy family life together. She loved to spend time doing things with her family and friends and always made them a priority in her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one sister, Madge Parker. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law Joetta and David Cherry of Sturgis, grandchildren Chata Cherry and Tobi (Adam) Gaff of Portage, a nephew Dennis (Judy) Parker of Three Rivers and her loyal cat, Trixie. A memorial service will be held at Bickford Cottage in Portage on Wednesday, December 14 at 1:00PM. A second memorial will be held in the spring at the Fort Custer National Cemetery Battle Creek where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
