Passed away at home on June 17, 2019 after a 5-year battle with Alzheimer's. Roycene was born in Muskegon, MI on July 18, 1944, the daughter of Roy and Cecilia (Seitz) Rollins. She worked for Parchment Schools as a teacher for 38 years; 28 years at Parchment North Elementary and 10 years at Parchment Middle School. Roycene retired from teaching in June 2002, but continued assisting with reading and writing curriculum development until 2006. Roycene was passionate about teaching and believed all children, regardless of circumstance, had the potential to be special and worked tirelessly until each child's gift had been realized. She was also actively involved in writing (and winning) technology grants, directing school plays, and organized "Science Night", an opportunity for students to present their science projects to friends and family. Roycene was on the board of the Parchment Public Library as well as involved in Parchment's annual Kindleberger Festival. Roycene enjoyed spending time with friends & family, volunteering, traveling, collecting key-chains, gardening, knitting & crocheting, making & distributing candy during the holidays, and cheating at Monopoly. Roycene is survived by James H. Fish, her husband of 53 years, two sons: Mathew & Mollie Fish of Richland, MI and Michael Fish of Chattanooga, TN, three granddaughters: Mackenzie, Avery, and Molly, three brothers: Robert & Doris Rollins of Freemont, MI, Duane & Linda Rollins of El Paso, TX, and Ronald & Carolyn Rollins of Leland, NC as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Friends will be received Friday June 28, 2019 from 6 p.m. 8 p.m. at Parchment Redmond Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday June 29, 2019 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Haven Church (5350 North Sprinkle Road Kalamazoo), Greg Kelley celebrant. In-lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations be made in Roycene's name to Southwest Michigan Hospice.
