Ross Thomas Griffith, age 91, of Hickory Corners, MI unexpectedly passed away Friday evening, October 28, 2016 He was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 4, 1925, the son of Edwin T. and Sarah (Temme) Griffith. Ross faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1943 to 1946, and served the Richland community as co-owner of The Cabinetry Store in Richland for many years. He loved woodworking, boating and his beloved boat, "China Doll". Ross married the "Love of His Life" & wife of more than 66 years, Harriette Ruth Kaier in Detroit, Michigan on September 23, 1950; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Royce (Horst) Peppa of Crystal Lake, Illinois, Gretchen (the late Enrique) Leguizamon of Kalamazoo, John T. Griffith III. of Hickory Corners, and Carolyn (Henry Grooms) Griffith of Tampa, Florida; five grandchildren, Ross T. Heflin, Luis Leguizamon, Ernesto Leguizamon, Marissa Leguizamon-Pallares, and Carmen Leguizamon; four great-grandchildren, Lucy Pallares, Betoluis Pallares, Ricky Leguizamon, Alex Leguizamon, and a brother, Richard (Rosemarie) Griffith of Richland. Ross was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Phyllis Peat. Funeral services with full military honors to celebrate Ross' life will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 4, 2016 at the Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta. The family will receive friends 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Friday at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel, 9170 East D. Ave. (M-89), Richland. A reception will be announced to follow the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Gull Lake United Methodist Church.
