Rosalie Ann Monetza was a woman whose sense of duty, responsibility and loyalty was matched only by her deep love for her family. She was a woman who always did the best she could for her family and was rewarded with many of life's blessings.

Her life wasn't always easy but Rosalie met every challenge with a patience and perseverance that was most admirable and an example for others.

Rosalie was born October 8, 1938. She was the youngest of three children. She graduated from Holland High School. Rosalie met Wallace in her teen years through mutual friends. They began dating and fell in love. The two married October 1, 1956. The couple exchanged vows in Berrien Springs MI, then moved to the north side of Holland.

Soon after, they welcomed five children, Deb, Cindi, Rick, David and Jody. The family lived near Lake Michigan and enjoyed outings to Tunnel Park, playing games, having a campfire and roasting marshmallows, and tossing a football or playing croquet in the yard.

Once the children were in school Rosalie worked at Woolworth's downtown Holland. From there she worked at JB Labs and later at Vetpo Distributors.

After Wallace passed in 2005, soon after she moved from their home on Spruce Avenue to Waverly Meadows where she developed many friendships and was active with Evergreen Commons.

Rosalie loved quilting and donated many children's quilts to many local charities over the years. She was a loving mother, devoted wife, and had many friendships along the way.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of her children and grandchildren, and many others whose lives she touched over the years.

Rosalie Monetza, age 77, of Holland, passed away, Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Holland Hospital.

Rosalie was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace in 2005.

Surviving are her children, Deb and Ray Schultz, Cindi and Randy DeMaat, Rick Monetza and Amy Vander Bie, David and Deb Monetza, and Jody Monetza; grandchildren, Katie and Joshua Reimink, Michael Stegenga, Adam, Michele, and Ryan DeMaat, Kolte Monetza, Matthew and Jessica Monetza, Joshua Monetza, Joshua and Jodi Stone, Shannon Stone, Jeremy Crow, Sarah Wright, and Kipp Harper; 11 great-grandchildren; in-laws, Jackie Meade, Mary Mowery, Don and Myrna Beekman, and Nancy Meyer; nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Memorial services will be 2 pm, Monday, November 30, at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Avenue, with the Rev. Corwin Stoppel officiating.

Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be 1-2 pm, Monday, prior to the service at the chapel.
