Ronald Samuel Woods, age 76, passed away peacefully at home on July 5, 2017.

Ron was born in Milwaukee November 18, 1940 to the late James R. and Leona (Skozich) Woods. He grew up with his parents and six siblings in Wind Lake, Wisconsin and attended Colonel Hegg Elementary School and Waterford High School.

Soon after high school Ron enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country spending two years in Turkey followed by two years at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota.

After returning from Turkey, Ron was united in marriage on September 4, 1965 to Jeannine (nee: Romano) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Racine. Ron and Jeannine had their first home in Rapid City, South Dakota while Ron completed his service. When he returned home to Racine Ron enrolled at the former Gateway Technical Institute and earned an Associate Degree in Accounting. He spent several years at the Horlick Malted Milk Company and later Progressive Dairy working in their accounting departments. He retired from Catholic Cemeteries - Archdiocese of Milwaukee after a successful career in sales. Ron was a member of Roma Lodge for 44 years.

Ron is survived by his wife of almost 52 years, Jeannine M. Woods, their daughter Angela (Michael) Roberts of the Woodlands, Texas and two very special grandchildren Austin Samuel Roberts and Rachael Grace Roberts. Ron is also survived by three sisters and a brother in law, Patricia (Henry) Prawdizk, Beverly Bogosian and Merry Alice (Norman) Benedict. He is also survived by two brothers–in-law and sisters-in- law, Sam (Susie) Romano of Oregon, Wisconsin and Joe (Anne) Romano of Houston, Texas as well as many special cousins and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Don, James and Cathy.

The extended family knew Ron as Mr. “Fix-it”. Ron could always be counted on to help with all manner of home maintenance problems. “Call Ron” was a familiar refrain in the family. He was generous with his time and talents. He was a wonderful husband and a great dad and grandfather who will be missed more than words can say. Ron was an easy person to be with, he was a good listener, never judged anyone and was a good friend to many. He was a forty four year member of Roma Lodge and also an avid sports fan and nothing brought a smile to his face faster than a Cubs, Packers or Badger win. And Ron took great pride in making sure his lawn, shrubs and flower gardens were a delight to family and the neighborhood.

Ron fought his battle with cancer, quietly and courageously, using his dry sense of humor and wit along with both a stoic attitude and facial expression rather than admit that cancer would defeat him. He never complained and tried to make sure that everyone around him felt at ease and safe and never felt burdened by his illness. Ron provided positive lessons in living for all his friends and family, both throughout his life and in his final days.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 14, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Avenue, with Rev. Ricardo Martin officiating assisted by Deacon Russell Missureli. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the funeral home 5-7 (Roma Lodge Service 5 P.M.) and on Friday at the church 10:30 A.M. until time of Mass. Private entombment with full military honors will he held at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Memorials to the Healthcare Network Inc, 904 State St. Racine, WI 53404 have been suggested.

A special thank you to Dr. Eric Bernicker of Houston Methodist Hospital, Dr. Antony Ruggeri of Vince Lombardi Cancer Center and Aurora Home Health Care for their loving and compassionate care.
