Ronald McDonald

Ronald W. McDonald, age 70, of Springfield, Ohio passed away Sunday afternoon, April 2, 2017 at Springfield Regional Medical Center, Springfield where he died peacefully after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on January 6, 1947, the son of the late Walter and Dorothy (Kingsley) McDonald. He is survived by his son, Jared McDonald of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; two sisters, Barbara (Walton) Howard of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Phyllis (Clay) VanDussen of Kalamazoo, Michigan; one brother, Leeland (Sesta) McDonald of Kalamazoo, Michigan; and two granddaughters, Lilyan Marie and Kinslei Jean McDonald. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlynn R. (Stringer) McDonald on May 27, 2016. He graduated from Gobles Public High School Gobles, Michigan and continued his education for one year at Central Michigan University before entering the Air Force. During his four years in the Air Force, he was stationed at a listening post in Turkey as a signal operator. Ron and Marlynn were married in Kalamazoo and moved to Ft. Wayne, Indiana where Ron and his wife adopted their son, Jared. In 1984 Ron was transferred back to the Springfield Ohio Plant as Ron was employed with then, International Harvester. Ron attended Southgate Baptist Church for the past 5 years. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 8:00 p.m. Thursday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Ron's funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in Southgate Baptist Church with Pastor Bobby Hile officiating with viewing hours from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at Southgate. He will be laid to rest in Mt. Ever Rest Memorial Park, Kalamazoo, Michigan.
