Born September 22, 1931, in Bloomington, Indiana. He died peacefully on November 7th, at his home in Kalamazoo, Michigan after a long illness. Ron was a member of the 1949 Kalamazoo Central High School basketball team, which was the first year of a three-year run of the Class A state championships. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force and studied psychology at Purdue and Western Michigan University. Most of his professional career was spent as a program manager for the Michigan Employees Securities Commission. Following retirement he was able to enjoy many years living in Florida before returning to Kalamazoo. Ron's life was shaped at an early age by the time he spent on his grandparents' farm in Indiana. He was an avid collector, cook, golfer, and repairer of unrepairable antique clocks. Ron is survived by his wife of 10 years, Jo Ferguson, daughter, Sara (Jim) Daniel, sister, Mary Ann Nation, eight step children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many, many nieces, nephews, cousins, plus a few unofficially adopted family members, all of whom thought the world of him. He will be missed by his family and also by his dog, Jeannie. Ron has been cremated according to his wishes. No services will be held. A gathering of family, friends, and neighbors to celebrate his life has been held.
