Ronald Abshagen

Ronald Lee Abshagen, age 65, of Decatur, MI went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 27, 2017, at his home. Ron was born on February 16, 1952, to the late Harold and Dorothy (Gerow) in Watervliet, MI. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1971. On November 23, 1973, he was united in marriage to Trudie Hovenkamp in Decatur, MI. Ron worked for SPX, formerly Contech and Sealed Power for over 30 years. He was a selfless man and helped with several projects. Ron built his own home, and assisted with the building of the Family Life Center at Sister Lakes Community Church, gym at Grace Christian School and helped remodel Grace Christian School's Library. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, family vacations, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. Ron is survived by his wife of 43 years, Trudie; children, Rodney (Jessica) Abshagen, Andy (Kristy) Abshagen, Beth (Dan) Corwin and Didi (Jerry) Corwin; grandchildren, Zack, Jordan, Brendon, Theo, Isaiah, Jillian, Nicholas, Aimee, Spencer, Ryder and Owen; and brothers, Jack (Janet) Abshagen and Larry Abshagen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Dorothy; and brother, Jerry Abshagen. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, August 31, 2017, at Sister Lakes Community Church in the Family Life Center, 67119 M-152, Dowagiac, MI. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at Newell Chapel, 83313 M-51, Decatur, MI and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
