Roger Prins, age 85, of Holland, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Resthaven Care Center.

Roger was born in Holland in 1930, the son of Henry and Sadie Prins. He graduated from Holland High School in 1948. Roger was a Korean War veteran with the Army engineers. Roger was a member of Third Reformed Church for over 60 years. He worked for many years as a sales representative for Louis Padnos Iron and Metal Company. After his retirement, he spent many happy hours woodworking in his workshop. Roger volunteered many hours in the Holland Hospital Emergency department. Roger was an avid outdoorsman and spent many happy days hiking and camping with his sons when they were in Boy Scouts.

Surviving is his wife of 62 years, Donna; children, Steve and Mary Prins, Michael and Susan Prins, and Tom and Sallie Prins; grandchildren, Ryan and Andrea Prins, Colin Prins, Caitlin and Kyle Shutz, Anna Prins, William Prins and fiancé Haley DeRoo, Matthew and Josie Prins, and Peter Prins; great granddaughter, Finley Prins; sister, Elaine Vande Bunte; in-laws, Harold (Butch) Tanis and Joan and Vern Steinfort; nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Memorial services will be 11 am Saturday, October 3, at Third Reformed Church, 111 West 13th Street, with the Revs. Kama Jongerius and Kent Fry officiating.

A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Resthaven Care Center, Holland Hospital, or Hospice of Holland.

Arrangements are by the Dykstra Funeral Home-Mulder Chapel.
