Rodney Dean Billmyer, age 73, received the promise of eternal life on March 23, 2017 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease and dementia. Rodney was born in LaMars, Iowa on April 22, 1943 to Clarence and Jeanne (Nee: Niehus)Billmyer.

He graduated from Oak Creek High School in 1962. It was there that he met his highschool sweetheart, Nancy Stater. They were married on April 18, 1964. Rodney served in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1967 and was stationed at Loring Air Force Base, Maine. After returning to Wisconsin, Rodney was employed by Wisconsin Natural Gas, later WE Energies for thirty-four years primarily in the welding department. In his spare time he could be found in his barn repairing lawn mowers and snowblowers. There wasn’t an engine he couldn’t fix and he shared his knowledge and skills with his sons and anyone who stopped by. He enjoyed years of camping trips, casino runs and playing cards.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of almost fifty-three years, Nancy; his sons, Kenneth (Diane Billmyer) of Racine, Gregory (Kimberly) of Scottsdale, AZ; and grandchildren, Megan, Kate, and Jonathan. He is also survived by his brother, Michael (Christl); sister-in-law, Mary Billmyer; Uncle Jack (Kathy) Niehus; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alfred and Ruth Stater; and brother, Russell Billmyer.

Visitation at 12:30 P.M. followed by a Memorial Mass at 2:00 P.M. with Full Military Honors will be held Thursday, March 30, 2017, St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring Street, with Rev. Terrance J. Huebner officiating. For those unable to attend the church service, a reception celebrating Rodney will be held at Roma Lodge at 3:30 P.M. following the church service. Private interment will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church or to the Parkinson’s Foundation have been suggested.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all the caregivers at Creekside Terrace and Allay Hospice for their love and compassion they gave Rodney for the time he spent in their care.
