With his family at his side, Robert W. Jarvinen “The Cake Man”, age 80, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Ascension All Saints Medical Center. He was born in Almena, WI, January 15, 1938, son of the late Wayne and Julia (Nee: Flygstad) Jarvinen.

Robert was a graduate of William Horlick High School “Class of 1957” and Gateway Technical College. On June 19, 1965 he was united in marriage to Susanne Sattler who preceded him in death, July 6, 2000. He was last employed by S.C. Johnson Wax for twelve years and previously employed by Massey Ferguson. He was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church (now Living Faith) and was Past Counselor and member of the United Commercial Travelers (UCT). Robert loved time spent up north in Price County fishing and deer hunting. An excellent baker, Bob made countless people throughout the city happy by making his cakes. A lover of politics and a proud veteran, Bob could be found wearing his signature cowboy hat at the Veteran’s Café in Malicki’s Piggly Wiggly on Thursday mornings and at City Council meetings.

He will be dearly missed by his daughter, Wynn (Mark) Brown of Kenosha; his grandson, Mason Ramirez; brother, Jerry Jarvinen; sisters-in-law, Julie (Neil) Ginther, Mary Sattler; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald and his sister, Janice Nelson.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, May 31, 2018, 6:00 P.M. at Living Faith Lutheran Church, 2915 Wright Avenue, with Rev. Denise Mbise officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the church from 4:00 P.M. until time of service at 6:00 P.M. There will be cake! Memorials to UCT or ones favorite veterans’ organization have been suggested.
