Morrison Jr. , Robert G. "Rob" 3/19/1967 - 3/8/2019 Kalamazoo Robert Gene Morrison, Jr. passed away on March 8, 2019, in hospice care at the family home with the warmth of four generations of family, from 1 year to 72 years, caring for him. Rob was born March 29, 1967 in Kalamazoo to Robert G. and Judith J. (Zipple) Morrison. He was a cheerful, sweet child who developed a golden heart for family, animals and plants. His teen years and early adult years were a bit of a struggle, but he soon emerged as a cheerful man still with a heart of gold and with hopes of starting his own family. That never happened; he never married. However, Rob's brightest moments were the nearly seven years he had loving and parenting Ricky and Marissa before they moved back to Missouri with their mother. He always treasured all their visits afterwards too. If you needed help, Rob was there; family, friend, or stranger. He helped care for his mother, grandmother, his cousin with cancer, his niece's old dog and so many more over the years. He could always find a solution, a plan, a way to fix your problem. He could build anything, big or small, as needed. Rob played handball and volleyball; was artistic and creative; loved fishing, kayaking, grilling, mushroom hunting, browsing garage sales, tending his gardens (including the ones at the family home), helping care for seven feral cats plus his own two rescue animals: dog, Sugar Bear and cat, Tom-Tom: he fed the birds, the fish and the squirrels: he loved long walks in the woods or around a lake; and he enjoyed family times. He was a simple man. Never had a computer; didn't shop, eat, nor travel fancy; didn't like public events, big crowds, nor a big fuss made over his birthday. Rob was a huge Redwings fan! Health problems tried to slow Rob down: Sarcoidosis in his 20's, he shattered both heels and compressed his spine in his 30's; and had several surgeries in his 40's. He continued to work long and hard but played less. Then came cancer and only five weeks later, this. Rob is survived by his mother, Judith; two sisters, Melissa Harris and Heather (Jim) Mitcavish; three brothers, Michael (Randa) Morrison, Jason (Jade) Morrison, and Karl (Danielle) Morrison; five nieces and nine nephews; one great-niece and one great nephew. He leaves behind his beloved rescue pets, Sugar Bear, Tom-Tom, and old dog, Kashia. He will be greatly missed by extended family and friends. His father, Robert, passed in 1995. The family would like to thank the hospice nurses, all who responded with prayers and/or donations to the Go Fund Me page Rob's boss started and to Craig for doing that, and Bronson/Laura for hosting the memorial gathering. Family and friends may share a condolence message online at www.joldersma-klein.com. "I do my thing and you do your thing. I am not in this world to live up to your expectations and you are not in this world to live up to mine. You are you and I am I and if by chance we find each other it's beautiful. If not, it can't be helped." By Fritz Perls (on a plaque in Rob's home)
