Robert McCarty

Mr. Robert E. McCarty, age 79, of Kalamazoo, MI died Sunday evening May 28, 2017 in Battle Creek, Michigan. Robert was born November 4, 1937 in Battle Creek, Michigan a son of Robert V. and Mildred (Misner) McCarty. He graduated from high school in both Chandler, AZ and Comstock, MI in 1955. Robert was also the Valedictorian of his class at Comstock. Years ago, he served Honorably with the U.S. Army. He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and owned and operated Quality Transmission Inc. for 53 years, retiring in 2002. Robert and his wife Alice enjoyed their winter home in Fountain Hills, AZ and spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mark McCarty in 2010; and a brother, Frank McCarty in 1988. On December 28, 1956, he was united in marriage to Alice R. (Sosinski) McCarty who survives. Also surviving, 2 children, Brent (Shelly) McCarty of Grand Junction and Amanda (William) Otto of Kalamazoo; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a brother, David (Debra) McCarty of Kalamazoo; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 11 o'clock Friday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th St. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Mt. Ever Rest Cemetery with Military Honors. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association .
