Robert J. Zauner, age 85, passed away Monday, January 18, 2016 at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center. Robert was born in Racine, WI, December 13, 1930, son of the late Rudolph and Katie (Nee: Rittman) Zauner.

He was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1949”. On April 25, 1953 at St. Patrick Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Mary Esayian. Robert was employed as a Computer Systems Analyst at Western Publishing for many years, retiring in 1992. He was a faithful and longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Robert enjoyed his retirement with Mary spending time at their lake house in Wautoma, Arizona, and traveling around the world. He also loved cooking and entertaining for family and friends.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Mary; his children, John (Debi) Zauner of Port Washington, Terese (Christian) Nielsen of Franklin; son-in-law, Mark Krier of Milwaukee; his six grandchildren, Colin and Maria Zauner, Isabelle and Samuel Krier, Ian and Clara Nielsen; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Virginia (Thomas) Herbst, Alice Mikaelian; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Paula Krier; brother, Rudolph; sisters, Agnes (Robert) Johnston, Catherine (George) Danek, Margaret Strausser.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, January 25, 2016, 11:00 A.M. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1100 Erie Street. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Sunday at the funeral home from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. and Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church from 10:30 A.M. until time of Mass at 11:00 A.M. Memorials to St. Patrick Catholic Church or to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society have been suggested.
