Robert John Landsberg, age 88, passed away Friday, May 20, 2016, at Home Inspired Assisted Living, Somers. Robert was born in Racine, November 17, 1927 son of the late John and Mary (Nee:Lawdanski) Landsberg.

Bob graduated from Washington Park High School, “Class of 1945” where he served as Student Body President and played as an All State Football Guard in the first All State Football Game in Madison. Bob furthered his education graduating from Lawrence University with a major in Biology. From 1950-1952 he served in U.S. Army stationed in Korea and Japan. Following his service he returned to pursue his education at Northwestern University earning a Masters degree in Education/Administration. Bob was employed by the Milwaukee Public Schools for 30 ½ years retiring in 1984. Bob was well known in the bowling community in Racine. He was a partner in J&W Lanes from 1967 – 1977 and Castle Lanes from 1978-1991. He was the first to introduce Spring League Bowling in Racine, the first to start Tri –Leagues, founded and directed the Senior Team Tournament of SE Wisconsin, and was an inductee into the Racine Bowling Assn Hall of Fame. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and member of the Church Resurrection Choir. He was a member of the Moose, Hi-Lo Dance Club, Retired Administrators Supervisors Council, the American Legion and was a Life Member of the DAV. He enjoyed gardening, bowling, reading, accordion playing, traveling, wood working, and dancing. Above all it was being with his family that he treasured the most. He will be dearly missed.

Surviving is his wife, Marilyn; his children, Michael (Shirlaine) Landsberg of Corpus Christi, TX, Patricia (Philip) Ontko of Racine, Mary Lou (Walter) Richardson of West Palm Beach, FL; grandchildren, Jamie and Eric Tremelling, Zachary and Tyler Landsberg, Michael Spanjers; stepchildren, Debbie (Dave) Rodham, Pam Stewart and Gary Crane, Gary Stewart, Mark Stewart, Gene (Denise) Stewart, Rand (Judy) Stewart, Dr. John (Rebecca) Stewart, Chris Stewart; dear nieces, Mary Jo Huebner and Laurie Tessman; other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dona (Nee: Rossiter), and a sister, Joan (Larry) Huebner .

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday, May 26, 2016, 12:00 P.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave, with Reverend Ricardo Martin officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends are invited to meet the family at Castle Lanes following the committal service.
