Robert Graves

Graves, Robert 8/13/1961 - 12/17/2022 Morley Robert "Bob" Dean Graves, of Morley, Michigan, age 61, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2022. Bob was born to Kathleen "Kay" Thebo (Wooden) and Robert "Tony" Graves, on August 13, 1961 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Bob graduated high school from Lakeview community school where he then went on to study finance at Western Michigan University. While living in Kalamazoo, he married Joan Graves (Wrench) in 1989. The couple was graces with a daughter, Taylor Graves. Bob was preceded in death by his mother Kay Thebo (Wooden); father Tony Graves; brother-in-law John Kennebeck; and sister-in-law Cheryl Graves. Bob was a man you could laugh with and share any story; a man you could grieve with and express you love; a man with advice and a strong drink. He was a care taker you could always come to for help but not without an eye roll first. A protector to most, a best friend to many and above all else, he was a man worth enormous admiration. Bob was a badass. He lived larger than life. It didn't matter if he was snorkeling in St. John with his best friend or hunting in the UP with his family. At age 50, Bob became a Colorado River Tour Guide where for the following 10 years he spent over 180 nights in the bottom of the Grand Canyon. His toes were always painted because "it's a River thing." A man of truly great adventure, he took photos of every crazy thing he did because "life is worth living." Bob is survived by his daughter, Taylor Graves and grandson; sister Dawn Kennebeck; brother Ken Graves; as well as a tremendous amount of wild (and wonderful) nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, who love him dearly. A Memorial Service to celebrate Bob's life will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Howard City Funeral & Cremation Services, 225 E Edgerton Street in Howard City. The family will greet relatives and friends prior to the service on Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
