Robert Jon DeHaven, 78, of South Haven, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018. He was born April 16, 1939 to Norris and Viola (Doelker) DeHaven in South Haven, Michigan. Robert served his country in the Navy for 20 years. Robert married Joan Pearce on August 27, 1960 at the Church of the Epiphany-Episcopal Church in South Haven. Robert was a 1957 graduate of South Haven High School. Following his retirement from the US Navy he worked in Management at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. Robert was a former Board Member of South Haven Public Schools, a Life Member of the Elks Club- serving with the Elks for 59 years and, a member of the Church of the Epiphany- Episcopal Church in South Haven Robert was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Levi DeHaven. Robert is survived by his wife Joan DeHaven, children Derek (Kathy) DeHaven of Cambridge, Iowa, Julie DeHaven of Pennsylvania, and Christine (Michael) Scheetz of Lowell, Indiana, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and sister- Merry (John) Campbell of South Haven. Special grand dog- Wesley also survives. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, March 30, 2018 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Church of the Epiphany-Episcopal Church with The Rev. Michael Ryan officiating. Robert will be laid to rest at Arlington Hills Cemetery in Bangor, Michigan. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Robert's memory to the Church of the Epiphany-Episcopal Church, 418 Erie Street, South Haven, Michigan 49090 or Caring Circle Hospice, 05055 Blue Star Highway, South Haven, Michigan 49090.
